Abstract

Plant diversity is a crucial aspect of the ecosystem because it plays a role in maintaining environmental balance, providing natural resources, and supporting human life and other living things. Various types of plants have extensive benefits, ranging from ecological functions such as absorbing carbon to economic benefits, such as providing food, medicine, and industrial raw materials. However, the increasing need for land due to human population growth is a threat to biodiversity. In Islamic teachings, environmental conservation is emphasized as an effort to maintain the balance of nature and ecosystems. As one of the countries with the largest biodiversity in the world, Indonesia has a very high wealth of flora. However, Indonesia also faces major challenges related to environmental degradation, including the threat of extinction of various plant species. Therefore, efforts to conserve biodiversity, especially plants, are very important actions. This article discusses plant diversity, its benefits, and the challenges and strategies for its preservation based on literature studies from various sources in the last five years.
